All of our self-guided, remote moose & big game hunts are fully outfitted and we even supply a two-way radio for safety and convenience.

The tents, cooking & eating equipment, tarps, cook stove and cook stove fuel, water jug, salt for your hides/capes, pepper for your game meat, bear spray, sleeping pads, and more are supplied for you and your group.

Topo maps of the actual moose hunting areas are available in most cases.

We drop our moose hunters into unit 19B.

The moose season runs from September 5th to the 20th.

We suggest that you hunt the last part of the moose season when ever possible. During the last ten to twelve days of the moose season, normally the temperatures are cooler, there is less cover, and the bulls become more active during the day.

Self-Guided Alaskan Float Hunt-Adventure-2ESelf-Guided Alaskan Float Hunt-Adventure-2EOn a moose/big game hunt we would suggest that you plan a 10 to 12-day hunt, with atleast 8 to 10 full days or more of actual hunting.

On a moose drop hunt, it is best to have only two moose hunters in the same camp. If you have more than two hunters in your group, you should do a moose float hunt or split up into two groups of two and hunt out of two different hunt areas. The odds of taking more than two trophy bulls out of the same drop hunting area is slim no matter what someone else may tell you. Float moose hunts do offer very good odds of sucess for larger moose hunting parties.

The Bull Moose taken by our past self-guided hunters, over the last 20 years, have had racks that averaged between 50" to 60". Some of our past self-guided moose hunters have taken racks 65" to 70".

Most self-guided moose hunters harvest the first legal Bull Moose they come across. If you want a huge trophy Bull Moose, that are normally in our hunting areas, you must be willing to pass up the smaller bulls if you want a chance at a "Real Monster Bull Moose."

Many moose hunters do not allow themselves enough days in the field to be successful, or they do not hunt from sunrise to sunset.

Other hunters are not in good shape and/or are not able to, or willing to, walk a mile or two to get their trophies.

Many hunters give up before their scheduled hunt is over thus ending their chance for success at all.

In most cases, if the weather conditions are good, the hunters are tough and work for their trophies, and the hunters hunt for 8 to 10 days or more, many of them get their trophy Bull Moose.

The average past success on our self-guided moose hunts has been 40% to 60% and sometimes more. Again, the success mainly lies on the hunting party and the weather.

The average cost to fly from Anchorage to a small western Alaskan community where our packages begin and end runs about $375.00 to 400.00 per person round trip.

You will normally need to stay overnight in a western Alaskan community for one night during your moose hunting trip. The cost will run about $75.00 for the night, per person and in most cases includes one supper and one breakfast.

You can get lucky and harvest a wolf, black bear or wolverine while on a self-guided non-resident moose hunt. Resident hunters may have a chance at caribou and/or grizzly bear as well.

We do have several openings at the present time for the 2010 moose hunting season.

However, if you want to hunt the last ten-days or so of the moose season, do not wait to long in making your reservation as we only take so many moose hunters each year.

The cost to ship fish and/or game from a western Alaskan community back to Anchorage runs about 30 to 40 cents per pound or more. Shipping of antlers is extra.

The cost to ship a moose rack from Anchorage to your home town will run $100.00 to $250.00 depending on the commercial airline you fly with.

Excess baggage normally runs about $50.00 to $80.00 per box or bag from Anchorage to your hometown, if you meet the airline requirements.

Motels in Anchorage will range in cost from $75.00 to $125.00 per night, per person, based on double occupancy. If you have a party of three or four the cost can be less per person.
