Dave Mason with an Alaskan King SalmonDave Mason with an Alaskan King SalmonThis Alaska Wilderness Adventure takes place at Alaska’s River Front Retreat™ which is located 55 miles north of Anchorage, Alaska on the Little Susitna River. Picture yourself with family or friends on 12 heavily wooded acres of land that is privately owned and includes over 3,500 feet of stream side Alaska fishing. There are many walking trails throughout the property where one can view wildlife along with plants and flowers. The sound of the river, as it slowly trickles by, will surely put you to sleep every night. During the months of mid June through mid September you can enjoy great streamside fishing in Alaska from your Alaska River Front Retreat.

 

Alaska Retreat HeadquartersAlaska Retreat HeadquartersFrom late June through mid July you can fish for mighty king salmon that will range in size from 20 to 50 pounds or more. From mid July through the end of August you can fish for tiger salmon that will range in size from 12 to 16 pounds. From mid August to the first week in September you can fish for the acrobatic silver salmon that will range in size from 10 to 15 pounds or more. From mid June through mid September you can also catch rainbow and Dolly Varden trout. The trout are usually caught using spinning reels with salmon eggs or Mepps spinners or on a fly rod. The trout in our area will range in size from 8 to 18 inches and sometimes more.

Our Exciting Alaska Fishing Wilderness Packages Include:
  • The use of twelve privately owned wooded acres with all kinds of wilderness trails
  • 3,500 feet of streamside river to fish.
  • 26’ X 30’ guest cabin with a private 30’ X 10’ two story deck over looking the river and includes a table, chairs and a barbecue grille. The cabin has two bedrooms with firm Queen sized beds, linens, blankets & pillows. There is a kitchen with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator/freezer & cook stove. The dining room table will seat up to twelve people. The carpeted living room offers a wrap around sofa with two Lazy Boy chairs & a hide a bed, satellite TV, coffee table and reading lamps. There is a bathroom with a chemical toilet & mirror as well. Tongue & groove pine is accented throughout the inside of the cabin.
  • There is a guest room in the main lodge that will accommodate up to two guests and offers the use of all modern facilities. The guest room offers a firm Queen sized bed, linens, blankets, pillows, dresser, closet, sitting chairs, small table, reading lamps and more. Tongue & groove pine is accented throughout the room. If you stay in the guest room and would like your meals prepared for you, arrangements can be made for this service.
  • Front Porch on Adventure-61AFront Porch on Adventure-61A The main lodge offers a modern bathroom with a large jet tub and/or shower, a hand crafted bar, kitchen, laundry room, sattelite TV, internet access and a large Alaskan great room. The great room is accented with tongue & groove pine on the walls and ceiling, tiger cherry wood floors from Brazil, special wood dining room table, chairs and bar top from Austraila and has all kinds of fishing & hunting trophies from all over the world. On the front of the lodge there is a very large covered porch that faces the river. The porch offers a great place to get out of the sun or rain and to sit and relax, read a book or to meet other guests that are staying with us from all over the world. The porch has two tables and all kinds of comfortable chairs. This is also a great place to meet new friends and share your past and present adventures together.
  • There are two fire pits on the property with all kinds of firewood.
  • We offer a covered fish cleaning area with running water on the propertyas well.
  • There is one travel trailer and a motor home available on the property that can each accommodate two to six guests. The trailer and motor home have beds with foam pads or mattresses & pillows, towels, pots, pans, dishes, coffee makers, microwaves, toasters, refrigerators, cook stoves, silverware, barbecue grilles, lawn chairs and much more. Both units offer hot & cold running water and showers. Both units have modern bathroom facilities.
  • We have two canoes, a flat bottom boat, oars, paddles and life jackets if you would like to float the river at our place. We offer two to ten hour river float trips as well has overnight float trips.
  • We have all kinds of tents and camping equipment on hand for those that would like to camp out on the river or up on the mountain nearby.
  • Our tackle shop has all kinds of rods, reels, tackle, coolers, calf high rubber boots, rain gear and more for our clients to use if you do not have your own.

Items You Supply for Your Alaskan Fishing/Sightseeing Adventure:

  • Transportation to and from our place unless special guided tour arrangements have been made in advance.
  • Food, beverages, paper products, charcoal and fluid.
  • Sleeping bags or linens if you are staying in the travel trailer or motor home.
  • Rods, reels, tackle, bait, fishing license and salmon stamps, if you plan to fish at our place. If you would like us to supply the fishing gear arrangements can be made in advance at an additional cost.
  • Mud boots, hip boots or chest waders if you plan to do any fishing. We do have all kinds of calf high rubber boots in our tackle room that you may use at no charge.
  • Personal clothing & rain gear

Within a short distance from your Alaska River Front Retreat there are all kinds of things to see and do.

Optional Fishing Packages
Little Su King Salmon-Adventure-61ALittle Su King Salmon-Adventure-61AGuided riverboat fishing charters are available for salmon within a short distance. Six-hour guided fishing trips run about $150 and ten-hour fishing trips run about $200 per person. Fly-out salmon & trout and/or drive to halibut fishing trips can be arranged as well. Daily halibut fishing trips take place in Seward, Whittier, Valdez or Homer and run about $185 to $220 per person.

 

 

 

 

Glaciers
Portage Ice Burgs on Adventure-61APortage Ice Burgs on Adventure-61A The Knik Glacier is only about 30 minutes away and there are boat cruises that will take you right up to the glacier. The Matanuska Glacier is only about 70 miles away, and for a small fee you can drive right to the glacier and then actually walk on the glacier if you wish.

 

 

The Portage Dave Climbing a Glacier on Adventure-61ADave Climbing a Glacier on Adventure-61AGlacier, along with many other glaciers are only 2 to 3 hours away, and you can see the famous Turnigan Arm on the same drive. Dall sheep and beluga whale viewing is possible along the Turnigan Arm area.

 

 

 

Scenery
Adventure-61A Seeing Mount McKinelyAdventure-61A Seeing Mount McKinely Mountains, rivers, trees, tundra, plants and flowers abound in our area. You can take a 3 to 4 hour driving tour up and over Hatchers Pass from your Alaska River Front Retreat. Mt. McKinley and Denali National Park are only a 3 to 4 hour drive from our place and make for a great over night Alaska adventure.

 

Hiking & Backpacking
Adventure-61A Scenery #2Adventure-61A Scenery #2 There are endless mountains and valleys to enjoy for a day or more of wilderness hiking and/or backpacking. Arrangements can be made with us in advance if you would like to hike and overnight in a tent on the top of a mountain.

 

Swimming
You can swim in the river at our place or go to a great beach within 20 minutes of your Alaska River Front Retreat.

Muskox & Reindeer Farms
Within a 30-minute drive from our place you can go to a muskox or reindeer farm to see these wonderful animals up close.

White-Water Rafting & More
Arrangements can be made to go white-water rafting near Denali or Valdez, Alaska. Kayaking and horseback riding can be arranged as well.

$100.00 per night per person for up to six guests.

Special Discount Rate Program

If you reserve accommodations for a full week the seventh night will be free.
Children 12 and under are free if they stay with two or more adults.
We offer a 10% discount to all seniors 55 and older.
If you do not need lodging at our place we will allow you to fish our property at a rate of $75.00 per day, per person.

Other Notes
We do offer fully guided tour packages by the day or the week upon request that can include one or two tour guides, all transportation and fuel, meals, beverages, lodging, fishing license, stamps and all fishing and/or sightseeing expenses and gear.
