Spring Grizzly Bear Hunting Reports for the Past Eight Years

We had six grizzly hunters in the spring of 1999 and all six hunters took the bear of their choice. One grizzly bear squared 9'- 9" and had a 27" skull. This bear should make the top 20 in the Boone & Crockett record book. A second grizzly bear squared 9'- 3" and should end up as #100 in the record book.

During the 2000 spring grizzly season we had 10 hunters all of which harvested the grizzly of their choice. So once again our hunters from all over the world enjoyed 100% success. Even though our 2000 spring grizzly hunts were for ten days, most of our hunters filled out in one to two days. During our 2000 spring grizzly hunt, the largest bear taken squared 9'-10" with a skull just under 27". The largest grizzly skull ever taken in Alaska measured 27-2/16". Nine of the ten bear were 9' or larger. At least seven of the ten bear will make the Boone & Crockett record book. Bear sizes taken in the spring of 2000 are as follows: One 9'-10" bear, two 9'-7" bears, two 9'-4" bears, one 9'-3" bear, one 9'-2" bear, one 9'-1" bear, one 9'-0" bear and one 8'-0" bear. One bear was taken with a bow and should make it as 4th or 5th in the Pope& Young record book. This bear had a 24-1/2" skull.

In the spring of 2001 we had eight grizzly hunters that harvested seven bear. The hunter that did not harvest a spring grizzly passed up the chance to harvest several bear. This hunter is coming back with us in 2002. The largest bear taken during our 2001 spring grizzly hunt squared 10'-2". Five of the seven bear were between 9'-0" and 9'-4". The smallest bear was 8'-0" and was only taken as the hunter wanted the first bear he saw. Four of the bear taken in the spring of 2001 made the Boone & Crockett record book.

In the spring of 2002 we had six grizzly hunters that harvested a total of six bear. The largest bear taken during our 2002 spring grizzly hunt squared 10'-4". Four of the six bear were between 9'-4" to 9'-8". The smallest bear was 9'-0". The largest bear had a skull only ΒΌ" smaller than the world record. Five of the six bear will make the B & C record book.

In the spring of 2003 we had three grizzly hunters that harvested a total of three bear. The bears taken were 9'-4", 8'-6" and 8'-0". Snow conditions were very poor and two of the hunters took the first bear they saw. We had three other hunters scheduled for the spring of 2003, but the guide postponed their hunts until the spring of 2004 due to the bad snow conditions.

The spring grizzly hunters that we had scheduled for the 2004 season were re-scheduled for 2005 due to very poor snow conditions in 2004. We did not take out any spring grizzly hunters in 2004.

In the spring of 2005 we had four grizzly hunters that harvested the bears of their choice. The largest grizzly taken on our spring 2005 hunt squared just over 10 foot and had a skull that green scored 27-1/4" making the bear a contender for the all time Alaska record grizzly. Once the skull dried it ended up scoring right at 27", this bear will score very high in the B&C record book. See a hunting report on this bear from www.huntingreport.com. Another story about this bear will appear in the "Bear Hunting Magazine". Two other grizzlies taken on this 2005 spring grizzly hunt squared 9'-4" and the smallest bear harvested squared about 8'-6". The hunter that took the smallest bear shot the first bear he spotted.

In the spring of 2006 we had six grizzly hunters that harvested a total of four bears. The largest grizzly taken on our spring 2006 hunt squared just 10'-0" and had a skull that green scored 27". The three other grizzlies taken on our 2006 spring grizzly hunt squared 9'-6", 9'-4" and the smallest bear harvested squared 7'-6". The hunter that took the smallest bear shot the first bear he had a chance to shoot as the hunter was way out of shape and over weight. Two other spring grizzly hunters in 2006 did not get their bears due to poor weather conditions and one hunter not being able to drive a snowmobile very well. Both hunters did trail bears but never caught up to them.

The spring grizzly hunters that we had scheduled for the 2007 season were re-scheduled for 2008 due to very poor snow conditions in 2007.

Once again, our trophy spring grizzly bear hunts are done with the use of snow machines and snow shoes, so one needs to be in very good shape. Past hunters that were in good shape usually have enjoyed 100% success.

As you can see from our reports listed above, we continue to offer one of the finest trophy class grizzly bear hunts available in the world with very high success.
