Our self-guided moose hunters over the years have enjoyed 40% to 64% past success in most years with many fine trophy Bull Moose being harvested. Some groups have enjoyed 100% past success on trophy Bull Moose.
John Liner packing out his 2008-62 Inch Moose RackOur self-guided and fully-guided moose hunting success has been lower in some years due to warm weather or hunters that are not tough hard enough, do not hunt from sunrise to sunset or that give up and end their hunt before the scheduled pick up date.

When we experience a very warm moose hunting season the foliage is thick, the moose are hard to see and the Bull Moose are not active, thus making it hard to be successful. Adventures In The Wild nor our hunters have any control over the weather or the the lack of activity by the moose. This is a simple fact of life and why our sport is called hunting and not called killing!

A lot of Bull Moose are spotted each season that do not have four brow tines on atleast one side. Many of these bulls may have racks measuring between 50" to 65" or more, however, most self-guided hunters do not shoot these bulls as they do not know if the bulls are legal or not. Later during the same hunt, in far to many cases a second big bull with four brow tines on one side is shot by someone in the group, it is then that far to many hunters realize that the Bull Moose they passed up in the beginning of the hunt was more than legal based on the antler size of the second bull that they harvested. This really hurts our overall self-guided success rates each year that future hunters are looking at.
Armin Voigt with his 54 Inch 2008 Alaskan Bull Moose
A bull that was harvested by one of our self-guided hunters measured 67" and yet it only had three brow tines on one side. Many Bull Moose over the years that had only two brow tines and were harvested measured 50" to 55" making even those bulls legal. One of our 2008 hunters harvested a Bull Moose with two brow tines on each side yet the rack measured 62".
John Weyer with his 59 inch 2008 Bull MooseIn 2008 our self-guided moose hunters harvested several Bull Moose with racks in the 55" to 62" range. Many other bulls were spotted as well some of which were to small or the hunters could not tell if the bulls were legal or not. Like most years some bulls were not shot that more than likely were more than just legal due to the 50" spread and/or four brow tine rules.
We invite you to come to Alaska and enjoy one of our "Extremely Remote Fly-In Moose & Big Game Hunting Adventures" that "You'll Remember for the Rest of Your Life".
