This unique and exciting hunting adventure takes place out of the town of Yellowknife. You will not only hunt for arctic wolf, as you can hunt for ptarmigan and arctic hare as well. This is a six day hunt starting and ending in Yellowknife. You will travel a 200 mile stretch of winter ice road and also hunt around Mackay Lake or Great Slave Lake in search of your trophy arctic wolf. The hunt is accomplished with the use of 4x4 vehicles and snowmobiles.
The wolf hunts take place from February to mid April. The arctic wolves in our hunting area range in color from black to white are long legged and can run like the wind. The average distance for shooting is 100 to 200 yards with some wolves taken at distances between 50 to 300 yards. Hunters need to dress in layers for this hunt and bring warm winter clothing.
